A Digital Rollei “Twin Lens Reflex” Camera Bookmark and Share
May 28, 2004 —

The truly legendary Rolleiflex Twin Lens Reflex Camera, originally developed in Germany in the 1920s, is now available as a digital camera, albeit in smaller size. Komamura, sole Japan agent for all Rollei products, has introduced the Rolleiflex MiniDigi. The new Rolleiflex MiniDigi inherits the original's most important feature -- you compose and view using a waist level viewfinder screen, from above. The palm-sized Rolleiflex MiniDigi weighs 100 grams and can be fit in your pocket or can be toted around on its strap. Although it uses no film, the camera has a film advance lever like its classical parent. (The lever gets it ready for the next shot.) The camera has a 2 megapixel square format sensor and is priced at current conversion rates at about $350. It has an 8.5mm f/2.8.5 fixed focus lens that can focus from about 2 ft. to infinity and shutter speeds of 1/15 to 1/4000 sec, has three JPEG resolution levels and uses SD memory cards.
